This is oddly compelling.
At first, I tried to hold my pinky- and fore-fingers down with my thumb. That was just plain awkward, and slightly painful, like finger yoga for the newbie.

I like the "rub eye with middle finger" technique, myself. Can be rather subtle if you do it right... Though not as gratifying.

It looks so good when you do it, too. I have to improve my digital limberness -- piano scale practice may be in order for the first time in a few decades...
